- download http://www.orangesoftware.net/download/OrangeInstall.exe and save in C:\Temp
- run OrangeInstall.exe and follow the instructions on screen
Once installed, simply select Orange Web Server under the Windows Start menu. You may wish to add a shortcut to Orange Web Server in your Windows StartUp folder (Settings/Taskbar/Start Menu Programs/Advanced) so Orange Web Server will start when your computer boots up.
Check your installation:
After installing start Orange Web Server. In the address bar of your browser type http://localhost and press enter. You will see this help file, served to you by Orange Web Server.
Web Files Folder
The Web Files Folder is the folder where files to be served by Orange Web Server are stored.
The default file is called index.htm. Make sure that the Web File Folder (and every folder under it) has a index.htm file.
Port
Port refers to the TCP/IP port that you web server uses. All web servers normally use port 80.
Minimize At Startup
This option causes Orange Web Server to minimize (hide) when it starts. The program is still accessible via the icon tray.
Web Server Address
Your web address (technically called a URL) is displayed in the Orange Web Server titlebar. The address is what users type into their browsers in order to access your web server.
You can choose to view the address using the computer's hostname or IP address.
